Job Purpose or Objective(s): Manage and develop tribal and allotted land’s timber resources.

Primary Tasks:

1.      Plan and direct forestation and reforestation projects on tribal and allotted lands.

2.      Plan cutting programs to assure continuous production of timber.

3.      Plan methods of cutting and removing timber with minimum waste and environmental damage.

4.      Preform timber inventory surveys on Tribal and allotted lands.

5.      Plan Forest Development projects and provide over site of these projects and maintain accomplishment reports on these projects.

6.      Interact with tribal members assisting with forest issues.

7.      Collaborate with fire specialists to assist with wildland fire suppression and prescribe fire activities.

8.      Interact and assist with other aspects of the Forestry Program (fire suppression, prevention, fuels and etc.)

9.      Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

 MINIMUM

·        Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related field

·        Fundamental knowledge of timber management practices through skills and practices obtained through experience and training

·        Knowledge of environmental laws regulations, and policies

·        Fundamental knowledge of timber management practices through skills and practices obtained through experience and training

·        Ability to interact with landowners and venders in the course of timber management practices

·        Basic skills in computer applications used in the analysis of timber management

·        1 year directly related experience

 TARGET

·        Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related field
