Allegion provides college students with challenging summer internship assignments and valuable exposure to our company's senior leaders.  Through meaningful work projects, our interns are empowered to build diverse skill sets and a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling career. 

Interns participate in a leadership speaker series, professional development sessions and work on projects supporting our charitable partners.  Upon completion of a successful internship many students are converted to full time opportunities within our early career programs.  The program runs from May 16th to August 5th.  Interns are paid $18 an hour with a $2500 housing stipend to students who qualify.

Responsibilities:

Manage and complete projects involving product design for improvement of performance, minimization of external warranty, addition of features, and optimization of cost.  Provide product engineering support to Factory Operation.

  • Utilize standard problem solving techniques to resolve daily production issues; implement both short and long term solutions
  • Manage specific project assignments using tools such as Microsoft Project, PTC ProEngineer and WindChill
  • Manage project schedule and be available to update team as necessary, while adjusting and adapting schedules due to business needs and priorities
  • Collect data and draw valid conclusions in order to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Effectively communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with employees

Qualifications:

  • Pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Completion of Junior year at the start of the internship
  • Overall 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner at all times with all levels of management, customers, vendors, visitors and employees
  • Self-motivated with ability to establish priorities and effectively manage time to complete multiple tasks within specified time frames
  • Ability to work independently and/or cooperatively and effectively in a team environment
  • Organized with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Working knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database software (prefer Microsoft Office Products)
  • Ability to apply basic problem solving and engineering analysis to complex product and process related issues
