Entry- Level Transportation Design Engineer - Nashville or Chattanooga, TN

Job Description
The Infrastructure Business Line of Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Transportation Design Engineer to join the team in Chattanooga or Nashville, TN. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by technical experts in the field of transportation design.

With the support of one of the industry’s leading technical and professional staffs, this employee will assist our growing transportation design and traffic engineering group in Tennessee in the preparation of roadway design plans, engineering reports, studies and analyses in a wide range of areas (e.g. traffic operations, safety, travel demand modeling and transportation planning projects). This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while working on a wide variety of projects alongside a dedicated and experienced staff. 

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare conceptual designs and construction plans utilizing Microstation and Geopak software. 
  • Engineering design including geometric design of highways and streets, rail design, drainage design (hydrology and hydraulics) and completion of construction engineering and inspection tasks.
  • Completion of transportation planning reports, roadway safety studies and general traffic engineering projects.
  • Collection of traffic and highway field data.
  • Development of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects.
  • Conduct and document traffic studies using nationally accepted modeling practice.
  • Conduct traffic operational analysis using microscopic simulation software such as VISSIM, synchro, SimTraffic 
  • Completion of Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) inspections and other stormwater related projects.
  • Supporting environmental compliance tasks at Client owned facilities.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on a variety of infrastructure projects including but not limited to levees, floodgates, hydraulic structures, and other water resources related projects.
  • Use of various software platforms including Microstation, Geopak, ArcGIS, and Synchro.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
  • Basic understanding of the application of geometric and traffic operations principles including AASHTO, MUTCD, and state DOT requirements/policies
