Interior Designer

Position Summary:

Our interior design department has 15 designers. We are part of a larger firm of 65 professionals including project managers, engineers and purchasing agents. We received the honor of Top 3 ID firms in Dallas from NEWH for the past three years.

The designer in this position will have the opportunity to work with multiple brands.  Premier Project Management provides design, development and project management services to hotels. That includes implementing almost all capital improvements for properties owned by Ashford Hospitality Trust (NYSE: AHT) and Braemar Hotels and Resorts (NYSE: BHR), subsidiaries of Ashford Inc. as well as external partners. You will work on a variety of projects from design through construction and installation, and will be mentored by senior leaders in the department.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Understand the basics of the hospitality industry and apply them to projects
  • Possess an interest in the hospitality business and an awareness of changing trends in design and the industry
  • Work collaboratively with individuals throughout the organization, give clear direction and communicate ideas effectively
  • Analyze scope and budgets and with input from senior staff, make adjustments and develop designs to meet scope and budget
  • Work with project managers, hotel engineers and others to gain information needed for documentation of a project
  • Possess the ability to visualize and create a space not only as it relates to furniture and finishes, but to the shape and interior architectural details of the space as well
  • Perform field verification with the appropriate supporting documentation
  • Accurately perform quantity take-offs and create budgets
  • Space plan by hand sketching or using CAD
  • Possess extensive familiarity with local and national vendors for furniture, fabrics and architectural materials, and hold responsibility for the selection of these
  • Prepare design presentations for Ownership and the hotel Brands using a combination of sketches, PowerPoint and Photoshop.
  • Communicate with Brand design representatives and track approvals
  • Develop and prepare FF&E specifications using the SPEXX program
  • Prepare construction documents, develop understanding of interior construction and installation techniques and have the ability to discuss them with contractors
  • Attend project pre-bid and or FF&E installations on own
  • Communicate with purchasing and project management on a regular basis throughout the project
  • Develop organization and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned
 
 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree for interior design or architecture with a minimum 3 years of experience
  • NCIDQ certification (preferred)
  • Be comfortable with personal responsibility and accountability and embrace open communication and collaboration
  • Possess professional poise and polish, and demonstrate flexibility and the ability to communicate both verbally and graphically to many personality types
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint and Photoshop)
  • Knowledge of Spitfire to analyze budgets
