Entry-Level Water Engineer--IMMEDIATE NEED

The Water Business Line of Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Water Engineer with interest in doing sanitary/environmental engineering, specializing in buried infrastructure (primarily water distribution, pumping, and storage systems, and sewer collection, pumping and treatment systems). The current project is near Charleston, SC.

Candidates with strong leadership aptitudes and likely future success as a team leader and client manager are strongly encouraged to apply as this position is intended to fast track to a leadership role in the buried infrastructure team. This is a unique opportunity to see various client sites across the US as this position may require you to travel for weeks at a time. 

Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, works well both independently and as part of a team, is interested in a combination of office work, field assignments, and travel and maintains a flexible attitude towards assignments, possessing the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly. This is a position that demands an individual that can perform well in both a field/construction setting and a high-performance office/design engineering setting.

The position will include but is not limited to:
  • Travel regionally and multi-state with the possibility of multi-week field assignments in various locations
  • Significant physical field work initially, including confined space sewer work, flow monitoring, inspection oversight. and construction inspection.
  • Conceptual design through detailed construction design, including preparation of contract documents, for municipal, industrial and remedial water/wastewater treatment plant units, water/sewer force mains, sewer gravity mains, and pump stations.
  • Inflow/infiltration studies, condition assessment, infrastructure evaluations, and regulatory permitting.
  • Construction inspection and construction management on Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk pipeline rehabilitation projects. 
  • Development of O&M programs and business plans for water and wastewater utilities.
  • Computer skills to be developed on the job include ArcView GIS, AutoCAD, SQL databases, and complex spreadsheet/database. 
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Candidate must be available for frequent travel regionally and multi-state, for field assignments.
  • Ability to travel for multi-week field assignments in various locations across the United States
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering field
  • Physical ability to perform rigorous field investigations, condition assessments, and flow monitoring set-up.
