Junior Data Analyst

Our growing technology firm is looking for a Junior Data Analyst who is able to turn project requirements into custom-formatted data analytics and reports. The ideal candidate for this position can complete life cycle data generation and outline critical information for each Project Manager. The candidate must be well versed in technology development and able to write project-focused code for data analytics extraction and results visualization in Tableau or over the web. He or She should be able to analyze business procedures and recommend specific types of data that can be used to improve upon them. The data analyst will be responsible for importing, transforming, validating or modeling data with the purpose of understanding or drawing conclusions from the data to drive planning and operational decision-making within the Transportation industry.

Duties and responsibilities will include the following:

·      Collect data using a variety of methods, such as data mining and hardcopy or electronic documentation study, to improve or expand databases.

·      Organize data

·      Design, implement and manage databases and data pools.

·      Document actions, findings and procedures.

·      Assist with the installation, operation and maintenance of new technologies.

·      Test and secure databases and analytics.

·      Presenting data in charts, graphs, applications and tables.

·      Design and develop for collecting data and developing performance measures and reports.

·      Use statistical methods to analyze data and generate useful business reports

·      Work with management team to create a prioritized list of needs for each business segment

·      Identify and recommend new ways to operate efficiently by streamlining business processes

·      Use data to create models that depict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole

·      Work with departmental managers to outline the specific data needs for each business method analysis project

Requirements:

·      Experience with SharePoint and Tableau.

·      Experience with Elastic Search and Hadoop.

·      Experience deploying analysis results over the web.

·      Experience with System Engineering Process and Business Process Mapping.

·      Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle.

·      Analytical Skills: Data analysts work with large amounts of data: facts, figures and number crunching. Must have strong analytical skills and an understanding of system databases, data elements, and application software solutions to maximize data gathering and data analysis.

·      Communication Skills: Demonstrates good communication skills with team members and ancillary resources. Must be able to function independently. Must be comfortable to work with multiple stakeholders and can interpret their intent and application.

·      Attention to Detail: The conclusions drawn from this data analysis will drive multiple initiatives. Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.

·      Math Skills: Understanding of basic statistical methods.

·      Programming Skills: This role requires an understanding of programming logic, and programming language. Python programming experience a plus. Familiarity with SQL, .NET, C#, C++, Javascript and HTML will be an important part of the data analyst role.

·      Familiarity with NoSQL, Angular, Bootstrap and JSON are a plus.

·      Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Engineering or any related field.

·      2+ years of Data Mining Experience.

·      1+ year in a Data Analyst role.

·      Software development experience.

·      GIS experience is a plus.
