Position Summary:
The University of Buffalo is excited to announce an opportunity for an educational leader to direct and design a new Institute devoted to developing, supporting, and recognizing the accomplishments of medical educators at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The new seven story medical school facility anchors Buffalo’s burgeoning interconnected Academic Medical Center (AMC) that includes the Clinical and Translational Research Center (new facility opened 2012), the new free standing Oshei Children’s Hospital (11/2017), Buffalo General Medical Center, the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and Conventus, the site of the UBMD faculty practice plan (opened 4/ 2017). The Director/Associate Dean will be part of the exciting transformation of medical education in Western New York and the resurgence and renewal of Buffalo.

The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences has a rich tradition in medical education that includes launching careers of the late George Miller, M.D., Hilliard Jason, MD, PhD., and the late Dr. Richard T. Sarkin. The school is poised to build on those roots with the opening of its new state of the art building that boasts numerous flexible, active learning spaces accommodating large and small group teaching, advanced technology for both high and low fidelity simulation in the Ralph J. Behling Simulation Center, 21 fully equipped operating suites for surgical skills education, and digitization of anatomical specimens for advanced teaching in structural biology.

The Director will have the opportunity to maintain skills in clinical practice as well as teaching and research.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $100,000

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Candidates should be well versed in adult learning principles and pedagogy, curricular design, assessment, and be familiar with teaching methods utilized in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education..

Preferred Qualifications:
A terminal degree of MD, Ed.D, or PhD is preferred. Medical or health professions educators with extensive experience are also encouraged to submit letters of interest.
