Manufacturing Engineer - Robotic Weld

The Engineer will be responsible for identifying, planning and implementation of productivity, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects in our welding department. Responsibilities will also include implementation of Lean manufacturing principles, introduction of new product and execution of capital projects in the welding area.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for programming, fixturing, process output and effectiveness of our 2 robotic welding cells currently manufacturing fuel tank assemblies.
  • Responsible for welding processes and flow for our welding operations manufacturing fuel tanks from 100-3000+ gallons, skids and other weldments.
  • Champion continuous improvement (KOS events/workshops) and cost reduction efforts in the weld area.
  • Implement capital projects throughout operations, including writing of white papers and ACTs to justify funds for these projects.
  • Work closely with shop personnel, maintenance, and design engineering to determine the manufacturing needs for equipment and systems.
  • Analyze operations and process flow to assure full utilization and maximum quality from our operations. 
  • Coordinate introduction of new products to production. Work closely with design engineering, marketing, and the production floor to effectively implement new products into production. Establish shop routings for all new products and engineering specials. Evaluate capacity requirements to ensure production capability of manufacturing new products.
  • Maintain routings for operations required and set labor standards for areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor production builds. This involves working closely with production foremen, supervisors, scheduling, and design engineers to ensure production problems are resolved.
  • Provide technical support and monitor critical processes at the facility.
  • Provide required support for ISO 9001. Work closely with ISO coordinating team and production employees to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 standards. Follow procedures established for manufacturing engineering to execute design changes, implementation of procedures and reference documents, and all documented responsibilities of process engineering.
  • Monitor new technical developments for possible application at the facility.
  • Develop training programs for new operators and new process.
  • Perform required capability studies and operations certifications for new equipment and products.

Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with 2 years’ work experience with demonstrated results in the field is preferred. 
  • Experience programming robotic manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with welding robotic experience a plus.
