Post-doctoral Research Scientist (Biomedical Engineering)

Colgate-Palmolive invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist (PDRS) position based at our Piscataway, NJ location.

The position is a two year fixed term of at-will employment with the opportunity to apply for full time employment at the termination of the term.

The PDRS will apply biomedical engineering techniques to better understand and quantify oral health and disease with particular emphasis on oral soft tissue physiology.

 The PDRS will work closely with other researchers at Colgate integrating aspects of microbiology, immunology as needed to study the effects of Colgate products on oral health and disease.

The PDRS will document research results with technical reports, patent applications, and present technical findings to Research & Development community and management.

Key Responsibilities for this Position:

·      Conduct and design research experiments to advance project objectives

·      Modify and prototype tools/techniques to investigate the physiology of oral soft tissue and under various health and disease conditions

·      Investigate the structure of oral soft tissue under different conditions and before and after treatment with products

·      Interpret and communicate experimental results to technical and non-technical business partners

·      Collaborate with external academic partners on research projects exploring fundamental and applied research related

·      Partner with technical, clinical, regulatory, legal, quality, safety and business partners to drive implementation of identified technologies

Required Qualifications:

·      Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with thesis work in the following areas: physiology of mucosal membranes, oral soft tissue histology, soft-contact tribology

·      Experience with electronics and device prototyping

·      Experience with clinical study design and execution

·      Research experience in one or more of the following areas:
o  Oral Soft Tissue Histology
o  Oral Cell Biology/ Biochemistry
o  Oral Microbiology / Biofilms
o  In vitro / in vivo biochemical assays

·      Skilled in programming and data analysis

·      Capable of carrying out independent research programs with minimal supervision.

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills including fluency in English.

·      Ability to interact with multifunctional technical/non-technical personnel and be an effective participant in a team environment
