Entry-Level Structural Engineer

Your Opportunity
The role of an entry level Structural EI or Designer is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Structural Engineer will work under direct supervision of a Senior Engineer to assist on plans and designs of structural engineering projects such as bridges and other transportation structures.
A Structural Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans and designs of structures and facilities such as bridges, highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction, subway stations, railroad infrastructure and public spaces.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Performs engineering tasks on assigned projects, including bridges and transportation structures
  • Assists team in preparing construction contract documents, project proposals, change orders, plans and reports
  • Conducts interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer
  • Performs calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
  • Attends and assists in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals
  • Monitors own work to ensure keeping on set schedule
  • Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings. Continues to develop skills using software programs for design and/or drafting
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • General understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of design
  • Proficient in MicroStation and any other relevant design software
  • Knowledge of calculations performed by software
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
  • Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team
  • Working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
  • Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various structures

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering or related field and Masters preferred. EIT a plus.
  • Minimum of 0 years of experience, internship experience a plus.
