Accounting Supervisor ( Medical Billing)

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Accounting Supervisor (Medical Billing)

General Description
Supervises the administrative and professional units responsible for directing and coordinating fiscal functions and, support services.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or closely related field. 

Requires four (4) years in professional governmental accounting or closely related experience including one (1) year lead work/supervisory experience.
 
Special Certifications and Licenses:
None.
 
Preferences:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or closely related field
Experience in behavioral healthcare or other health care operations
Experience with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) and/or Medicaid

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors the BARC Division's contracts for compliance with the terms and conditions such as customer reporting, minimum guaranteed amounts, and security deposit provisions, and initiates processing of charges and penalties for non-compliance.
 
Works with Managed Care Organizations to verify coverage, bill and accept payments

Manages and directs revenue collection activities.
 
Manages the activities of staff to ensuring that all BARC Division accounting is performed in accordance with the prescribed accounting and administrative standards and regulations.
 
Develops and maintains unique and highly complex rate configurations in the computerized accounting systems.
 
Liaises with County customers; assists customers with understanding the published tariffs, explains the application of the terms of their revenue contracts, processes requests for and credits.
 
Directs staff in analyzing data and providing financial and statistical information to support contract negotiations, contract comparisons and other management decisions.


Performs related work as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Demands:

Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of electronic office machines within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
