RF Engineer - Custom Products

Department Description

Applied Technology is a prototyping center within Motorola Solutions. We create proof-of-concept and low-volume specialty communications products for government and private industry using such technologies as GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE, Android, and Linux. Job Description

Ideal candidates for this position are engineering students graduating in the near future or recent graduates, with diverse knowledge and a wide variety of interests, especially in RF/microwave circuit design.

You will be a member of a small (1-6 person) multi-disciplinary team, and will be responsible for RF circuit design, component selection, schematic entry, integration, and verification. You will be involved in all phases of projects, from requirements analysis and system architecture, through layout, prototype characterization, product bring-up, and deployment.

You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver who requires minimal supervision. Projects can vary greatly from one to the next, so you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges.

As you will be working in a small project team and regularly interacting with customers, excellent communications and teamwork skills are essential.

Our products are developed to very high standards of quality and reliability and you will be expected to learn and conform to the department’s hardware development process during all development activities.

Desired Skills​
  • BSEE with related course work in RF engineering, with an excellent GPA.
  • Entry Level, internship experience is preferred but not expected. 
  • Candidate must be able to design and debug RF hardware circuits.
  • Candidate must have basic knowledge of RF test equipment and performance testing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts. Some contracts may have higher-level clearance requirements.
  • Applicant should have experience with RF simulation software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work in a team environment are required.

Basic Requirements
