Mechanical Engineer - Entry Level

Please note, this position is for our Downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. SGM is seeking a team player with good technical skills in Mechanical Engineering . Plans and conducts work requiring judgment and application of Mechanical engineering design practices. Works with internal/external team members and assists Project Engineer or Senior Project Designer as needed. Performs most assignments with instructions only as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex design issues and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. Reports to the Project Engineer or Senior Project Designer.

 

Job Qualifications:

 
  • Excellent Communication Skills

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Highly organized, detail-driven and conscientious

  • Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel

  • Team Oriented, professional, self-starter, with positive attitude and multi-tasking capability.

  • Bi-Lingual is a Plus


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical systems for a variety of facilities.

  • Develop design and construction documents, including flow diagrams, plans and sections, details, specifications, equipment schedules and calculations.

  • Size and specify mechanical equipment, including air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, compressors etc.

  • Assist with site surveys, field investigations, condition surveys and feasibility studies for proposed projects.

  • Coordinate with other disciplines including electrical and architectural, to create and update drawings and main documentation.

  • Ensure that cost, customer service, quality, schedule and safety are incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.

  • Create HVAC design drawings using AutoCAD MEP/Revit

  • Learn, understand and implement the SGM drafting standards

  • Incorporate redlines from the PM’s & Designers into the construction drawing documents

  • Drafting / and Design of Systems for Educational, Government, and Commercial Projects

  • Coordinate in-house design activities with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and construction administration departments

  • Meeting Attendance

  • Prepare Memos and Minutes of Meetings for Files/Provide Timely Responses with necessary documentation
