Internship - Product Safety Test Engineer

DEKA offers Internships for full time students* (must be at least 18 years of age). Internships last a minimum of ten weeks and summer internships are to begin no later than June 17, 2019.
We have an opening for a Product Safety Test Engineer Intern to work in a dynamic Medical Device Research and Development environment. This position provides visibility to the device development process and hands-on experience with engineering prototypes and finished products.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and participate in the evaluation of products as outlined in 60601-1, 60601-1-2, and other industry standards
  • Execute test procedures on a range of devices from engineering prototypes to finished products
  • Gain experience in medical device product development
  • Acquire knowledge of standards for medical device development and verification
  • Where applicable:
  • Specify, document, and validate electromechanical test fixtures
  • Assist in failure investigation and root cause analysis
Requirements:
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program, Biomedical, Electrical or Mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with the following preferred:
  • Basic electrical circuit theory, breadboard, and soldering
  • Laboratory measurement equipment - oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator, power supply
  • Design and documentation of experiments
  • Programming experience with LabVIEW, Python, or C++
  • Engineering Statistics
  • MS Word, MS Excel
  • Coursework in Electronics, Electromagnetic Fields, Signals and Systems is a plus
