PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER - POWERTRAIN

Job Summary:

Participate in the development of new and innovative concepts to utilize catalysts and emission control systems to enable improved fuel efficiency and/or reduced criteria pollutant emissions from internal combustion engines. Manage and execute projects in the area of catalyst and emissions control system research and development. Develop test plans to evaluate new hardware or identify fundamental interactions of feed gas stream and catalytic devices. Conduct laboratory testing involving engine dynamometer investigations as well as bench test facilities. Conduct comprehensive data analysis and provide clear and concise summaries to clients and/or technical management. Troubleshoot and resolve test stand problems.

Education/Experience:

Requires a BS, MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering with 5 - 15 years of experience. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Required Skills Include: Experience with emission control system design, development, integration and calibration; experience managing large scale research programs; experience with commercialization of emission control systems; project management experience using tools such as Microsoft Project, and statistical tools such as Minitab; experience with engine test cell operation; experience with laboratory based evaluation of catalytic devices; experience with emission control devices such as three-way catalysts, oxidation catalysts, wall flow particulate filters, and selective catalytic reduction catalysts. Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience: Experience with LabVIEW and/or MATLAB/Simulink; experience with Controls System Development; experience with simulation software such as GT Power or AVL Boost; experience leading the design, development, and installation of new catalyst testing facilities. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
