PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER - POWERTRAIN CONTROLS

Lead and develop new and existing activities in the area of engine, vehicle, and aftertreatment control. Conduct customer-focused projects in powertrain control and diagnostics in collaboration with engine/vehicle/component development teams. Develop and implement control and diagnostic strategies (algorithms, software, hardware, etc.) for engines/vehicles systems. Apply advanced control and signal processing techniques for performance enhancement and diagnostics of engine/vehicle systems. Design experiments for characterization of engines/components. Participate in proposal and promotional efforts to develop new business opportunities as well as grow business with existing clients. Some travel is expected.

Education/Experience:

Requires a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years related experience. Requires 1 year of experience with software: LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Simulink programming and hardware: National Instruments. Requires 1 year of experience with application of classical and modern methods to design/tuning of multivariable controllers. Proven proficiency and understanding of real-time control systems. Experience with dSPACE, Mototron, National Instruments or other similar platforms. Understanding of design of experiments (DoE). Understanding of on-board diagnostic (OBD) concepts and regulations. Knowledge of engines and vehicles preferred. Exposure to aftertreatment/catalyst modeling and control. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
