Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Intern - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department assists Kiewit infrastructure districts in the process of creating, managing, and using data-rich 3D models to optimize design and construction. 
Applies engineering drafting principles and procedures in performing basic engineering drafting work. Develops drawings and models with information provided by engineers and designers. Requires close guidance and direction. This position coordinates with other design group team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design and development. Performs specific design functions for the project as assigned.
Expertise Required:
•   Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Computer Aided Design & Drafting Technology.
•   1-2 years of classroom experience in the computer-aided design, modeling or drafting field
•   Basic 3D modeling capabilities in AutoCAD or MicroStation (2D & 3D)
•   Ability to comprehend civil/structural contract drawings
•   Design or construction experience is a plus
•   Effective oral and written communication skills
•   Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
•   Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize.
•   Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
