Our avionics systems are taking off, so we’re looking to board a talented aviation engineer. Our aviation systems and human factors engineer 2 supports the successful conception, development and application of sophisticated avionics systems by performing user-interface reviews and system-level bench and regression testing for basic software changes. We are looking for a full-time Aviation Systems and Human Factors Engineer 2 for our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role you will be responsible for performing system level bench testing of complex software changed and new functionality as well as defining and performing system level regression testing. Other essential functions include: 
  • Identifies complex software issues and create software change requests that define necessary changes and steps to recreate problems
  • Creates software change requests defining complex or advanced new features and functionality
  • Supports software Change Control Board meetings and represent subject matter expert for the system level, user interface, and pilot aspects of changes
  • Provides technical content for system design/description documentation for complex new features
  • With some guidance, creates technical product proposals and related documentation in response to customer request
  • Contributes to creation and definition of product roadmaps
  • Work with development teams outside of integrated flight decks to support user interface consistency across all Garmin aviation product lines
  • With some guidance, reviews customer requirements to assess compliance and/or provides technical support for OEM customer inquiries and issue resolution
  • With some guidance, performs technical market research in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives and/or develops and performs human factors evaluations
 

Qualifications

 
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors, Math, or Physics from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 1-year relevant experience. Other requirements include: 
  • Possesses thorough working knowledge of aviation, avionics, and applicable FAA and international regulations including a pilot’s license or equivalent aviation experience
  • Demonstrates proficient working knowledge of Garmin Integrated Flight Decks and general knowledge of all Garmin aviation products and competitor products
  • Demonstrates general knowledge of aviation human factors and associated guidance material
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
Previous work or internship experience with consumer or aviation products is highly preferred!
