Civil Engineer in Training
GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Junior Level Civil or Environmental Engineering in Training (EIT) to work out of our Orlando, FL office. This position is in our Energy Business Unit’s Civil Engineering Technical Services Group. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team oriented environment that will utilize their college education and related work experience to develop professionally into a well-rounded engineer with the ability to grow in today’s global environment.
Job Duties:
• Design of Stormwater Best Management Practices (channels, culverts, infiltration, detention, and/or retention basins), Stormwater management systems (treatment and attenuation), Erosion and Sediment Pollution Controls, and Roadway Geometry and Grading.
• Civil Site Design and Development.
• Development of:
o Construction Plans,
o Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Plans,
o Stormwater Management Plans,
o Site Development and Access Road Grading Plans,
o Utility Relocation Plans,
o Utility Design Plans,
o Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans.
• Hydrology and Hydraulic analyses.
• Preparation of calculations, drawings, specifications, and quantity and cost estimates.
• Preparation of Construction Documents.
• Preparation of various permit applications (including permits for stormwater management, demolition, maintenance of traffic, utility systems (potable water and sanitary), FEMA Floodplain, building development, subdivision and land development, grading, etc).
• Utility coordination and value engineering.
• Feasibility studies and alternative analyses.
• Constructability field investigations, environmental monitoring, construction support and monitoring, and domestic travel may be required.
Requirements:
• Bachelors (B.S.) degree from an accredited college in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Experience or concentration in General Civil or Water Resources Engineering beneficial
• 0 to 4 years of civil engineering experience with title and salary adjusted as appropriate
• EIT or FE Certification or ability to take and pass the exam within six months
• AutoCAD Civil3D proficiency preferred
• GIS proficiency is a plus
