Intern - Product Engineer

The Product Engineering team is seeking an Engineering intern for the summer of 2019. The team seeks an outstanding engineering student to assist the product engineering team engineers in their daily activities of developing, manufacturing, testing and documenting the Iridium product line of satellite modems. The intern will work closely with the engineering team, become familiar with the Iridium product line and participate in the dynamic engineering environment required to develop and manufacture high quality and reliable satellite handsets and modems as well as assure their designs are well documented and their performance is consistent with the high quality that Iridium customers have come to expect.
 
Potential Responsibilities:
  • Become familiar with the operation of Iridium satellite modems and test their basic performance
  • Become familiar with the Iridium satellite modem product line and assist in the organization of their documentation
  • Assist in the organization of the Bill of Materials (BoM) that comprise Iridium manufactured products
  • Assist in the regression testing of new software releases of Iridium manufactured products
  • Assist in documenting the revisions of hardware and software of Iridium manufactured products
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by management

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university working on a bachelor's or graduate degree in Electrical, Software, and/or Systems Engineering
  • Coursework in electrical circuits is highly desirable
  • Coursework in a computer programming language is highly desirable
  • Coursework utilizing laboratory test equipment is highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English is required
  • Results driven with strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to work well both independently and in team structures
  • U.S. Citizenship—required by U.S. Government contract work.
