ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER -SCIENTIST- INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES

Job Summary:

Provide high-priority engineering analyses and numerical calculations to support new and ongoing projects in diverse fields. Apply engineering analyses in diverse topic areas to include vibrations, solid mechanics, incompressible and compressible fluid flows, heat transfer, and chemical process engineering. Construct physics-based models of dynamic systems to provide insight and guide expectations for experiments. Analyze and reduce experimental data to interpret and describe systems under test. Learn new technologies and subject areas as needed. Interact with clients and colleagues to present results, share data, guide experimental programs, and write reports and proposals for new work. Occasional travel and field work is required.


Education/Experience:

Requires a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 0 -5 years of experience. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Must have Graduate Research experience in applying numerical and analytical methods for linear algebra and solving differential or integral equations (finite difference, finite volume, or finite element), FEA, structural dynamics and fluid dynamics. Experience in use of one or more programming or scripting languages such as C, Python, Matlab is required. Must have academic project or work experience in modeling dynamic systems and demonstrated ability to write publication-quality documents. Experience with Matlab, ANSYS, OpenFOAM, Python, or Octave is preferred. Experience in vibrations, transfer functions, digital filters is preferred. Experience or knowledge of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and basic chemistry is preferred. Experience with Linux shell is preferred. Active or prior security clearance is preferred. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
