Engineering Intern

Internship Dates: May 6, 2019 - July 26, 2019 (can be flexible to fit into student's summer break)

Purpose:
A Cement Plant Intern will be responsible for learning fundamental aspects of the business while concurrently participating in a continuous improvement project. This will be done under the mentor-ship of the department's team lead. The projects are designed to have a real financial impact on the business and interns will be tasked with presenting their findings during the conclusion of this evaluated internship. Upon satisfactory completion, interns may be extended a job offer dependent upon successful graduation.

Responsibilities:
·        Be an advocate for safety
·        Acquire specific knowledge on the practices of the business line
·        Learn by working in fundamental positions of the business line
·        Obtain a network of contacts
·        Complete a Continuous Improvement and present findings to local management
·        Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
·        Meet or exceed company safety standards
·        Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management

Skills and Knowledge
·        Highly proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills
·        Strong attention to detail
·        Possesses analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
·        Ability to prioritize projects, allocate resources and interact with all levels in an organization
·        Strong interpersonal skills





Qualifications & Experience

·        Must be in 3rd or 4th year of completing your bachelor’s Degree.
·        Bachelor's Degree preferred in: - Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical)
·        GPA of 2.5 or higher is referred


Physical Requirements:
·        Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
·        Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
·        While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate to employees/ visitors
 


Working conditions:

·        Capability to work extended hours as necessary
·        Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
·        Capable of working in an open office environment
·        Capable of working in a construction site, manufacturing site, and/or industrial setting
·        Some exposure to dust, noise, and extreme temperatures
·        Ability to wear appropriate safety equipment and comply with all Company and MSHA required safety regulations

Hours: Expect about an average 40 hour work week
