Controls Engineer

In this role, you’ll be stationed within our factory in Crete, Nebraska (about 25 miles from Lincoln), which is one of the largest wet pet food manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and proudly in operation for over 50 years. We mass produce of over three million cans of wet pet food per day, which include our Alpo®, Purina ONE®, Pro Plan®, Friskies® and Purina Veterinary Diets® brands. Our factory is home to a new cutting-edge line that will challenge your automation and robotics curiosity.  

A truly valued and critical team member, a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for providing controls engineering leadership and support to manufacturing teams, engineering and maintenance teams. You’ll coordinate the electrical and controls resources for all plant capital projects, as well as perform plant floor electrical control system troubleshooting. You will provide continuous improvement efforts on automated manufacturing processes and equipment. 

Your knowledge of programming, technical data interpretation, hardware application specification, electrical power and controls design, system integration and risk assessments will make you successful in your role. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership and project management, defining control strategies, directing programming resources, and coordinating electrical resources for capital projects. 
  • Provide strategic direction for long-term electrical and controls infrastructure
  • Establish systems support and maintenance functions
  • Provide consultation services as the factory subject matter expert on all controls and power applications 
  • Be a plant liaison with Nestlé Purina Engineering and Nestlé Purina Operations specific to strategic direction of plant control systems and related projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field

Experience (Years/Type): 

Skills: 6+ months of experience in working with controls systems in a manufacturing environment
