The Inside Sales Engineer provides sales and technical support to Spirax Sarco sales team and customers including, distributors, Independent Manufacturers’ Representatives, and internal support groups (Product Management, Engineered Systems Division, Energy Services Group and Customer Service). This position will be located in Blythewood, SC.

The essential responsibilities for this role include:
  • Assist Spirax Sarco sales reps with the review of customer specifications and applications to develop solutions, assist with system design and prepare quotations. Provide documentation, sketches, PIDs, models or calculations to support solutions when necessary.
  • Analyzes customer’s process data and functional requirements to specify optimum solutions.
  • Provides timely and superior technical support for SSI products via telephone, fax, and email to Customers, Distributors, IMRs and Account Executives.
  • Initiate “cold calls” in tandem with sales to discover new opportunities with as yet unidentified customers, through leads from marketing and by exploring new and known contacts within existing customers. Initiate follow up calls on opportunities to help close and drive sales growth in collaboration with sales.
  • Assists in closing business with the Account Executive and/or other sales representatives by providing technical aid and support during various stages of the sales cycle. Performs product demonstrations, answers inquiries, and assures that prospective customers are shown the full capabilities and benefits of the products. Periodically participate in field sales calls and travel.
  • Assists the Account Executive with on-site customer visits for product testing, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Possesses strong mechanical and electrical knowledge related to process systems and industrial controls systems as well as technical knowledge of flow, pressure and level instrumentation based upon customer specifications.
  • Facilitates training to SSI Customers, Distributors, IMRs and Account Executives in the proper application, sizing and selection of equipment.
  • Participate in internal customer project meetings, acting as a technical liaison with the rest of the organization. When necessary provide product alternatives and recommendations to ensure projects will meet the required OTTR.
  • Review terms and conditions in accordance with the Delegation of Authority and escalate to the Finance Team when there is any lack of compliance.
  • Completes assigned projects in a timely manner.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Experience/Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electric preferred) or a related field
  • Outgoing, engaging personality.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio and Outlook, Solidworks, Autocad, CRM and ERP.
  • Ability to interpret project specifications and various forms of drawings.
  • Broad general knowledge of steam; above average knowledge of either mechanical or controls product
