Intern - Engineering Specialist

This Summer Internship opportunity is available to students who have achieved classification as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student at an accredited college or university. The Summer Internship program will begin on June 3, 2019 and end August 9, 2019. Transcripts (can be unofficial) are to be submitted with application.
 
The Intern will support the Project Management and Engineering Design Sections of the Engineering & Construction Bureau. The Intern will shadow and assist Professional Engineers on restoration and capital infrastructure projects in various stages of design and construction.  Lead, Senior, Staff Engineers, and Engineering Construction Managers will provide instruction and guidance to Intern. The Intern will assist in the advancement of projects through design phase and or construction phase, depending on individual project status. The Intern can expect to participate in activities such as design tasks, design review and documentation, permit applications, project status meetings, construction inspections, pay application review, construction contract change orders, and requests for clarification.
 
The successful candidate will report to District headquarters located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
 
Internship rate of pay is $12.00/hour and students will work a maximum of 32 hours/ week.
 
Employment Guidelines
Typically has achieved classification as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Environmental, or Construction Engineering degree program at a college or university accredited by a recognized national or regional association. Coursework must be relevant to internship and no experience is required. Must have a 3.0 or higher and maintain an average grade of B or above in all major fields of study.
