Application Engineer

As an Application Engineer you will prepare quotations and specification of bills of materials, and other supporting data necessary for power systems projects. You will work with third-party suppliers to determine costs and correct product applications to meet customer requests. The role responds to technical information requests from the field sales team.

This position reports to the Lead Project Engineer.​

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Review customer requests for non-standard product, provide accurate costing/ pricing, update quotes, and advise customers of results.
  • Assist customers with generator, ATS, and related accessory application questions.
  • Responsible for quoting complex projects including value engineered solutions.
  • Provide technical assistance on product line (i.e. ratings, sizing, submittals etc.).
  • Issue, log, and maintain quotation and order numbers for all engineered special product activities, maintaining centralized documentation.
  • Assist order administration/design sales engineering.
  • Identify market trends and act upon industry new sales opportunities.
  • Work in partnership with the Account Manager – Distribution team to prioritize requests and provide guidance for complexity, lead-time, and pricing of special option quotes.
  • Implement internal changes that will improve the efficiency, response time, and customer service.
  • Perform other related assignments.

Skills/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required. Bachelors in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in customer-facing roles involving technical quoting, reading prints and working with product lines of technical complexity preferred.
  • Experience with industrial power products or engines preferred.
  • Technical skills in electrical and programming considered a plus.
  • Personal characteristics are mandatory in the areas of technical experience, curious and pragmatic mindset, organization, attitude, and follow-up. 
  • This position requires travel up to 30%.
