Drainage/ Water Resources Engineer (EIT)

SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Bartow, FL Water Resources/Drainage Group as a Drainage/ Water Resources Engineer (EIT).


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

A strong candidate for this role will assist engineers in roadway design for FDOT and municipal projects. Experience in MicroStation is a plus.

The candidate's primary role within the group is to provide drainage design and production services for roadway projects and drainage tasks on assignment within a Client’s office. 


JOB DUTIES
  • Assists in roadway drainage design which includes storm drain systems, pond design, culvert analysis and bridge hydraulic analysis.
  • Prepare cost estimates and technical reports and memorandums.
  • May coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff.
  • May perform other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering (preferably in Water Resources). This level my be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' experience since Bachelor's degree.


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Good technical writing, computer, communication and organization/planning skills are required.
  • Experience and familiarity with the following programs and methodology is a plus: MicroStation, Geopak Drainage, InRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D and/or HEC-RAS.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with FDOT roadway drainage design experience.


PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • E.I. or EIT is usually required.
