Mechanical Engineer, Cape Canaveral

Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment. Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
  • Performs work involving the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, Piping and instrumentation diagrams, drawings, line, valve and equipment lists, specifications, datasheets, plans, procurement documents, and/or system descriptions for systems with moderate complexity under the supervision of a Lead Engineer or Supervisor. Supports work on Inspec database to support issuance of documents.
  • Participates in the following as assigned: Equipment design and development; System design, including concept sketches and layouts; Testing of materials; Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data generated by other engineers or generated by suppliers; Preparation, or review, of engineering studies and reports; Preparation, or review, of material quantity estimates; Preparation and disposition of Field Change Requests (FCR) and Supplier Deviation Disposition Requests (SDDR); Preparation and disposition of Nonconformance Reports (NCR) and supports closure of actions on Corrective Action Reports (CAR).
  • Assists in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
  • Prepare Engineering Performance and Progress Reports (cost and schedule) for Mechanical Engineering activities.
  • Reviews submittals, from equipment manufacturers or subcontractors, of a moderate degree of complexity. Prepares comments and recommendations. Interfaces with vendors.
  • Respond to formal Requests for Information from vendors or Field Change Requests from the Construction organization. Prepare/Respond to Deficiency Reports for equipment and material defects. Prepare Corrective Action Plans to address deficiencies.
  • Participates in field walkdowns

  • Day to day responsibilities may include support to: procurement, construction, startup and commissioning, and/or operations
 
Basic Qualifications:
Grade 22
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety). *

Grade 23
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university and 1 year of relevant, professional work experience as an engineer
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety). *
  
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proficient in computer applications and operating systems including: knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Access.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
  • Familiarity with common engineering tools such as MathCad, AutoCad, Finite Element Analysis tools, Computational Fluid Dynamics tools, etc
