3D Modeling Engineer - Electrified Drive System – AWD/Driveline

The ideal 3D modeling engineer will have an established record of innovation in the field of electromechanical powertrain systems and a solid, systems-level understanding of driveline and axle technology, including eDrives. They will have excellent problem solving skills, make sound decisions and deliver high quality results. Full virtual vehicle integration methods will be employed, including powertrain plants, closed-loop control systems, and total vehicle dynamic response to inputs. They will focus on virtual analysis and an emphasis on up-front engineering in an effort to minimize hardware iterations and prototype-builds.They will also participate in growing the team's knowledge through active, hands-on mentoring.

Responsibilities
  • Systems-level understanding of driveline and axle technology, including electric drive systems (eDrives) as installed in high performance, off road, or commercial use applications
  • Integration of CAD assemblies, and creation of joint interfaces that represent design kinematics
  • Feasibility analysis of new eDrive solutions in a virtual vehicle environment, related to system dynamic response, NVH, and controls robustness
  • Generation of powertrain plants, closed-loop control system optimization, and evaluation of dynamic behavior in the presence of noise factors
  • Sound conclusions drawn from virtual analysis and an emphasis on up-front engineering to minimize hardware iterations and prototype-builds
  • Growing the team's knowledge through active, hands-on mentoring
Basic Requirements
  • Master's Degreein Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or related engineering degree
  • 5+ years of experience as a research/automotive engineer withan understanding ofone or moreof the following: automatic transmissions, combustion engines, hybrid/electric powertrain
  • 3+ years of experience in CAD/CAE using CATIA or equivalent parametric modeling tool to design/modify automotive components using GD&T
  • 3+ years of experience developing and integrating assemblies of components in a virtual CAD/CAE environment
  • 3+ years of experience using one of the following dynamics modeling tools: Amesim, ADAMS, Simulink
Preferred Requirements
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or related engineering degree
  • Expert knowledge in mechatronics and electro-mechanical systems (sensing, actuation, mechanisms) as they relate to automotive systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and a broad understanding of automotive systems from a vehicle, sub-system and component-level perspective
  • Daily usage of dynamic analysis tools such as Amesim, ADAMS, Simulink
  • Ability to integrate vehicle simulation tools such as CarSim and CarMaker with dynamic analysis and controls tools
  • Active development of Matlab/Simulink and modern and traditional control methods, such as adaptive, model-predictive, and PID-based control
