ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - FRACTURE MECHANICS

Job Summary:

Support the ongoing development of a commercial software application named DARWIN® (Design Assessment of Reliability with inspection). DARWIN® is a fracture mechanics and reliability assessment tool that has been under continuous development for nearly twenty-five years. It is currently licensed for production use by nearly every major aircraft engine company in the world. Working under the guidance of experienced staff, become experienced in the fundamentals and application of probabilistic fracture mechanics methods, as well as various software development practices. Interfacing with software end-users on a regular basis to address engineering and software-related inquiries and issues. Other responsibilities will include software verification, engineering analysis, technical writing, quality assurance, software design, and code development.


Education/Experience:

Requires a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related with 0-5 years of experience in software development related to mechanics, probabilistic analysis, fracture mechanics, or fatigue. Must have a 3.25 GPA. Must be willing to work in a team environment and must possess strong communication skills. The abilities to efficiently multitask and analytically approach problems to develop solutions is required. Must possess the ability to take ownership of problems and work both independently and with others. Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems, Python scripting, and shell scripting is desired. In addition, knowledge of fracture mechanics and/or probabilistic mechanics methods would be an asset to this position.
This position requires passing the test.

Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR work in section.
