Manufacturing Process Engineer
Job Description:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer uses Lean/Sigma manufacturing principles to develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes, fixtures and setups to ensure safe and cost effective manufacturing, assembly, testing, and quality assurance of industrial, aerospace and nuclear sensors.
- Develop and optimizes discrete manufacturing processes, fixtures and setups to achieve safety, output, quality, and cost goals of the organization. Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
- Determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g., Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause Analysis and A3). Identifies process and product design problems, prioritizes opportunities for improvement and devises effective solutions to resolve.
- Serve as floor support technical expert for assigned manufacturing cells.
- Resolve problems and provide guidance to the production team. Recommend changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve safety, efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials.
- Act as a knowledge resource and guide for colleagues.
- Develop processes for new or more complex products.
- Contribute to moderately complex aspects of multiple value streams including safety related and qualified equipment.
- Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's in Engineering or equivalent
- 4+ years of understanding of and exposure to lean manufacturing techniques
- 2+ years of experience with ISO9001/AS9100 Quality Systems
- 1+ years of experience with SolidWorks, CAD
- 1+ years of experience with ERP systems, SyteLine or IFS
Desired Skills:
- Lean/6-Sigma Certification
- Proficient with Minitab or equivalent statistical software
Physical Requirements:
- Must be willing to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis
