Structural Engineer (Jr.)

The Structural Engineer (Jr.) performs facade calculations under the direction of a licensed engineer for high performance custom curtain wall projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform facade calculations under the direction of a licensed engineer for high performance custom curtain wall projects.   
  • Hold paramount the safety of the general public and all employees in all design/engineering decisions   
  • Perform all work under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer   
  • Perform structural analysis and design of custom curtain wall and field equipment including load determination, frame analysis, FEA, connections, and anchorages for custom curtain wall projects.   
  • Review drawings, calculations, material data sheets for compliance with building codes, project specifications, and company standards.   
  • Provide technical support for production modeling, shop activities, and field activities   
  • Travel to project site as required to observe/evaluate/inspect construction and provide engineering support   
  • Participate in training to develop technical knowledge in structural engineering and curtain wall   
  • Effectively communicate all assumptions and outcomes to PE and lead engineer on project.   
  • Work across disciplines with drafters, designers, modelers, shop and field personnel, and project managers to accomplish project task   
  • Complete project tasks in fast paced team environment by established deadlines

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering   
  • EIT or ability to obtain in 1 year   
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), Mathcad, AutoCAD, some experience with RSTAB/RISA or other frame analysis software and FEA software preferred, ability to learn PNA proprietary software
