New Grad: Hardware Engineer

Job purpose
The Packet-Optical Platform FPGA team is looking for a new grad to join the team. The successful candidate will apply advanced design and verification methodologies and tools to for FPGA designs to build ensure the quality of our products for Ciena’s Packet Optical platforms.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Participate in the full life cycle of FPGA design from concept to customer support
  • Contribute to design specification and RTL implementation.
  • Perform FPGA verification with simulation and in the lab.
  • Timing closure and analysis
  • Develop and/or use tools to facilitate lab bring-up and debug of FPGAs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Exposure to Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, C/C++
  • Familiarity circuit design, digital logic, and CAD tools such as Mentor Questa, Synopsys VCS, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Vivado are an asset.
  • Familiarity to scripting language such as Perl, Python, and TCL
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and traffic test sets
  • Familiarity with the Linux environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and an eagerness to learn
