Engineer/CAD Drafter
General Summary: Implements new design practices and optimizes current production processes. Provides design and drafting support for composite products manufactured by company through CAD (Solidworks, Draftsight).
Core Functions:
• Helps optimize current processes and procedures on the production floor
• Uses lean manufacturing to help processes develop
• Carries out inspections and review of current materials/processes
• Creating assemblies and technical drawings using Solidworks.
• Editing current assemblies, technical drawings, and sometimes models.
• Supports technical department and production floor.
Details of Function:
• Edit current assemblies and technical drawings with the help of the technical department.
• Produce outline designs, product bills of material, production drawings and technical support material.
• Assist in developing marketing support materials including drawings and written specifications.
• Work within the defined procedures and processes of the company and solicit support and observations from coworkers, peers and supervisors.
• Prepare reports and documentation.
Qualifications:
• Familiarity with 2D and 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools: Draftsight & Solidworks.
• Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, etc.
• Creativity and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
• Comfortable dealing with people and communicating technical aspects of product.
