Assistant Water Resource Engineer

WSP’s Water an Environment practice is seeking an Assistant Water Resources Engineer in the Orlando, Florida office. Under the supervision of senior-level engineers, the entry-level engineer will perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and engineering designs in support of municipal utility, water resources, and environmental projects in Florida and other states. The candidate must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, technical competence and flexibility. This position is an opportunity to work on complex water resources or water/wastewater/reclaimed water projects under the direction of a talented team of engineering professionals. The work related to these projects may include water, wastewater, and reclaimed water supply planning, permitting, and modeling; field data monitoring and water level analysis; and water/wastewater/reclaimed water utility infrastructure design. Candidates with certification in specialty areas or continuing education in advanced design or modeling methodologies should provide that information.
 
Position Description:
  • Populating, updating, and modifying Excel spreadsheet models
  • Performing engineering calculations and basic design tasks including preparing design drawings using AutoCAD
  • Use industry specific software to perform hydrologic, hydraulic and groundwater modeling, as needed
  • Performing field data collection for groundwater sampling, well installations and environmental site assessments
  • Work in a team environment

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Agricultural/Civil/Environmental Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred, or in progress)
  • EIT (or currently qualified for the next EIT exam) is desirable
  • 0-1 years professional experience
  • Knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and AutoCAD
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Affiliations with professional societies and community involvement are highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel including to project sites requiring overnight stays
  • Local candidates will take precedence
