Field Engineer Intern (Summer 2020)

We are seeking a Field Engineer Intern for summer 2020 to work for our Orlando District. Interns will be placed on Commercial Construction job sites which are located in Orlando, FL .
 
Responsibilities:  
 
As an Intern student you will be given similar responsibilities as a full time, entry level Field Engineer and experience what a career will be like in construction Project Management, Field Supervision, or Estimating. You will be assigned to work at a construction jobsite with a project team that matches your knowledge and experience and you will be involved in several aspects of the project. You will have the opportunity to participate in company training opportunities, events, and community volunteer opportunities. You will;
  • Assist Field Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents
  • Conduct safety audits and quality audits
  • Read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Log submittals and process RFI’s
  • Assist with surveying and project layout
  • Maintain and update field drawings, field equipment and records
  • Assist with coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
  • Attend relevant project meetings
  • Prepare memos, letters, meeting minutes, contracts, and other forms and documents
  • Assist with project documentation requirements
  • Assist with estimating and soliciting subcontractors and/or suppliers for information and pricing
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
 


  Qualifications:
  • Desire a career in Construction Project Management, Field Supervision, or Estimating.
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a degree relevant to the construction industry (e.g. construction management, construction engineering, construction technology, civil engineering, etc.) 
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g. H1-B, etc.) for this position.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to travel to and from the job site
  • Able to navigate through a construction site on a daily basis (i.e. climb ladders and stairs)
  • Able to work around and near welding, cutting, grinding, heavy equipment and cranes
  • Based on client requirements, candidates may be required to complete a criminal background check
  • This is an hourly non-exempt position required to work 40 hours a week  
  • Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test
