ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - SPACE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

Job Summary:

Develop mechanical designs for space hardware; design structures and electronic packaging for extreme environments. Perform structural and thermal analyses on flight hardware; produce reports fully documenting work performed. Supervise fabrication of hardware; develop vibration and thermal test plans. Support design reviews throughout product life cycle and at multiple levels of integration. Defend design to both customer and non-advocate reviewers. Support promotional and proposal activities as part of team effort to develop new opportunities. May require field support: travel to customer facilities, NASA field centers, military bases and overseas.



Education/Experience:

Requires a BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related engineering degree. MS degree is a plus. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Must have 0-5 years of experience in electromechanical design & analysis, preferably space related. Experience using computer-aided engineering software for design and analysis required. Working knowledge of Pro/Engineer, ANSYS and Thermal Desktop a plus. Co-op, internship or mechanical design/analysis-related job experience is a major plus. A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR work in section.
