Project Manager Intern (HQ- Olathe, KS)

Forget “special projects” for newbies, our project manager interns work side-by-side with a mentor, making hands-on contributions to the world’s top-selling GPS navigation and wireless communication products. Our interns jump right in and provide management, guidance and leadership between the project team and other departments to ensure objectives, requirements, timelines and milestones are met internally and externally. They will be responsible for coordinating not only between departments but also between multiple Garmin offices, state-side and internationally, to track the development of all project components, from initial concept through mass production. We are looking for a full time Engineering Project Manager Intern to provide management, facilitation and documentation for weekly project statue meetings at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for learning and understanding market commitments and ensuring product schedules can meet those commitments. Other essential functions include:
  • Work with program managers as required on complex projects across multiple functional areas, managing ongoing action items while tracking and reporting progress
  • Interface with Program Management teams, development partners, Garmin Europe and Garmin Taiwan, as well as other departments within Garmin, such as MarComm, IT, Operations, Marketing, Engineering, and many others
  • Work with project management team to facilitate communications for core development team with other teams
  • Track the development of all project components 
  • Execute Garmin procedures for product release
  • Know and understand project priorities


Qualifications

 
Qualified candidates will possess Completed coursework in a technical discipline, or possess an equivalent combination of education and/or experience relevant for successful performance of the essential functions of this job description with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. 

Other requirements include:
Proven project management experience and/or demonstrated knowledge in project management concepts/processes
Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Experience working with MS projects and relevant knowledge and training in one or more of the specialization areas noted below is highly preferred!
