2020 Summer Internship/Mechanical Engineer

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland seeks to engage a Mechanical Engineering student as a Summer Intern to work in the Real Estate Services Group (RESG). The successful candidate will perform engineering support and documentation services on multi-discipline commercial architectural and infrastructure projects of moderate to large scope. 
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Perform various aspects of engineering support as directed by the RESG Manager of Planning, Design, and Construction: including programming, conceptual design, analysis, and calculations
  • Prepare and/or coordinate programming, schematic design, design development, and construction documents, as directed
  • Review and consult on 3rd party consultants’ work (architects and engineers), including design, construction documents, and specifications
  • Perform LEED and/or Energy Star analysis
  • Perform and/or participate in building code review and analysis
  • Organize and coordinate record drawings and documents to support department requirements
  • Coordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure the engineering design details integrate properly with the work of other project disciplines and support building standards
  • Prepare presentation materials, as directed
  • Perform various duties associated with the bidding process, including preparation of addenda, bulletins, and amendments, and tabulating bid evaluations, as directed
  • Perform various services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings, as directed
  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures
  • Implement and continuously improve Bank materials, methods, and construction standards
  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members
  • Work with, respond to, and take direction from the RESG Planning, Design, and Construction team
  • Monitor/track project budgets and schedules
  • Work with a professional team of architects and engineers (internal and external)

External Qualifications:  
•Students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
•Minimum GPA of 3.0 and will be at least a senior standing
•Strong writing and interpersonal skills
 •Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and have ability to multitask
•Problem Solving Skills: 1) Interpersonal communication: Requires communicating well with people at different levels, frequently sharing information with others while listening to and understanding their points of view. 2) Logical analysis: Requires thinking through and solving problems step by step, often looking beyond the obvious solution to a problem and digging deeper for the best solution.
