9:00AM Arrival and introduction to Internship Coordinator/Recruiter and District Departmental Managers
10:00AM Overview of the FDOT of who we are, what we do and our procedures. What our hiring process is like and how to apply for a position with us.
12:00PM Meet and Greet with key District Traffic Operations Engineer and staff.
1:00PM Bring your own lunch – Lunch in break room with administrative team. Wendy’s in walking distance.
The student would attend internal meetings at which typical Traffic Operations studies and related analyses are presented and discussed. The student would be assigned to complete portions of similar studies/analyses that have been specially reserved for the Shadow Program.
The student would tour the Traffic Management Center and have an opportunity to shadow TMC floor manager and operator staff to gain a first-hand understanding of the TMC work environment and how the TMC uses technology to manage traffic on the District’s arterial and freeway/express lane system.
The student would be given a briefing on keys to successful transition from an academic to work place environment. Keys to effective interviewing would be presented.
The student maybe asked to make a presentation to unit staff on what they did/learned and how they can apply it to their current academic and future work
