Transportation Design (Engineer) Manager
The Transportation Design Manager leads a team of professionals in planning and designing infrastructure projects and strategies that make the city’s transportation system safe and effective for all users. This job class is primarily responsible for applying a complete streets approach in developing strategies for future growth and adaptation. Employees in this job class are responsible for overseeing and managing staff involved in traffic planning and engineering. The Transportation Design Manager serves as the lead designer for transportation related projects, and is responsible for reviewing and signing off on engineering plans. This position works closely with the Director and Deputy Directors of the Transportation Department on major departmental projects, but is expected to use considerable initiative and independent judgement in the performance of duties. Work is primarily performed in an office setting, although there may also be a substantial amount of time spent working in and around construction sites.
