Electrical Design Engineer 1

Job Description:
 
USSI is looking for an ambitious entry level Electrical Engineer for fast paced career in an agile challenging environment. The candidate will function as Electrical Design Engineer involved design and development embedded underwater acoustic. Primary product developments concentrate on underwater acoustic processing systems for generating and measuring acoustic signals. Ideal candidate will be involved in the entire task responsibilities of the electrical engineering life cycle and will implement conceptual ideas into manufacturable products, perform calculations, circuit analysis and simulation, tolerance analysis, and reliability analysis, and generate procedures to test and validate various electronic circuits. The Electrical Engineer will participate in design and development efforts, creation of schematics, and guide PCB circuit design and layout functions for digital and analog circuits, microprocessor and microcontroller systems, and testing and integration. Work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure compliance to customer requirements, design for high volume manufacture and robustness, and support off-site customer product acceptance testing activities.
 
Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. Security clearances are granted to U.S. citizens.
 
Desired Skills:

  • Advanced Engineering Degree
  • Programming skills in Matlab, Java, and C languages
  • Strong skills in Electrical Engineering Design Analysis and Design for Manufacturing.
  • Must be able and willing to travel (10% of the time) to various USSI and government test sites and supplier locations.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime.
  • Team player with successful communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting and/or multiple demands, including ability to present to various levels within an organization
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS office
  • Strong analytical skills especially when driving to root cause, or when determining best approach for circuit design
  • Understanding of analog, digital, and RF circuits, embedded systems, and digital signal processing
  • Experience with schematic capture and circuit board layout tools and techniques
 
Physical Requirements:

  • Candidate must be capable of occasional lifting of 40 pounds, waist high, with no assistance.
  • Normal finger dexterity and color vision is required.
