Program Coordinator - SAM (Surveying & Mapping)

Salary $42,690.00 - $68,304.00 Annually

General Description:  This is a highly demanding position, responsible for the coordination of multiple activities such as administrative duties, fiscal/budget duties, and project management duties essential for planning, development, implementation, operation, and expansion of Pasco County's Surveying and Mapping projects.  

  • EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:  All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an Emergency. During an Emergency employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Essential Job Functions:The Surveying and Mapping Program Coordinator plans, directs, and organizes the coordination of special projects, budget preparation assistance with the County Surveyor (CS), and is the SAM Surveying and Mapping (SAM) projects production program coordinator. These duties include, but are not limited to, project intake, assimilation, origination, database input and tracking for project statuses and deadlines for weekly production meetings (possibly with Microsoft Project) and creates project schedules.
  • Tracks "billable" work orders for all projects. 
  • Oversees division staff timesheets and inputs payroll into MUNIS, handles and tracks employee leave and timesheet correlation.
  • Assists with division purchasing. 
  • Assists department staff in development, analysis, and tracking of the departments' performance metrics.
  • Conducts analysis and prepares project status, reports, and presentation for use by SAM team at weekly Production Meetings. 
  • Assists CS Manage Fleet and Resource allocation program. 
  • Track and maintain employee licensure and certification requirements.
  • Assists CS with departmental intern program. 
  • Assist in onboarding process of new hires through scheduled training and safety requirements. 
  • Assists in Maintaining departmental intranet page and digital communications. 
  • Monitors, evaluates and resolves problems related to activities assigned. 
  • Performs other management and administrative functions as directed by the CS. 
  • Performs related work as required.
  •  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:General working knowledge of the Profession of Surveying and Mapping in the State of Florida.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with consultants, the public, Pasco County BOCC employees, and government officials. 
  • Ability to answer phones and emails with professional office etiquette and refer and/or take messages. 
  • Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in both written and oral form. 
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate complex projects effectively. 
  • Ability to work with various groups and stakeholders to complete projects. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with County employees, citizens, and State and Federal officials. 
  • Knowledge of the methods, principles and practices of print and digital writing and editing. 
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of public relations. 
  • Knowledge of the techniques of composing and editing publicity material. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, graphic, and visual form. 
  • Have the computer skills to be able to utilize software programs (i.e.: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Windows). 
  • Ability to supervise professional and other employees in daily project production and deadlines. 
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally, and in writing.

Minimum Requirements:
PHYSICAL SKILLS:  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Ability to be outdoors for small periods of time during all seasons within Pasco County Florida. Ability to lift and carry, as required in loading, unloading and setting up exhibit displays.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or a related field. Three (3) years of professional experience in a Surveying and Mapping or Civil Engineering/Transportation field. Experience working with different disciplines such as Attorneys, Planners, Engineers, Law Enforcement, Real Estate professionals, Accountants/Fiscal professionals, etc.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include a rare night, weekend or overnight travel, especially during an emergency/storm event, etc.
