Development Administrator


The City of Bryan, Texas is currently accepting applications for Development Administrator. This position guides the development community through the City's land entitlement process, including zoning, development review, infrastructure plan review, building plan review, and building inspection processes, from pre-development meeting to final building inspection and issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy.

Responsibilities include: 
  • Serves as primary go-to contact for the development community. 
  • Sets-up, prepares for, facilitates, and follows-up on pre-development meetings for all types of property development projects. 
  • Coordinates all aspects of the City's Site Development Review Committee (SDRC) as the SDRC Chairperson, from application acceptance to issuance of weekly SDRC comments.
  • Keeps track of all submitted development review and building permit applications in order to ensure proper and timely review and response to applicants. 
  • Fosters and maintains positive working relationships and engages and coordinates with property owners, engineers, developers, architects, general contractors, other city departments and outside agencies involved in the development process on a daily basis.
  • Understands local property development regulations, construction requirements and design guidelines and is able to creatively solve conflicts that may arise in their practical application.
  • Coordinates final building and site inspections with City departments and general contractors to ensure all requirements have been met before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued. 
  • Assists Development Services Department management with development code and ordinance interpretations.
  • Produces special reports regarding development activity. 
  • Makes verbal presentations before various City boards, commissions and the City Council, community groups, and governmental bodies, and the news media regarding development activity. 
  • Fulfills professional education obligations as required.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Land Development, Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or similar field of study plus at least two (2) years directly related experience OR Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Land Development, Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or similar field of study.
  • Experience in government, project management, development, and/or construction is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
