Integrity Engineering Intern - Summer 2020

Responsibilities
This role will assist and be under the guidance of other engineering staff working on projects to meet various utility facility needs.
  • Compile, analyze, and summarize information and data sets for review by existing staff
  • Collect and analyze Transmission/Distribution pipeline data and records
  • Visit field locations including active work sites and existing pipeline facilities
  • Assist in the development of the Transmission ESRI GIS and ancillary applications
  • Assist in tracking progress and completion of team projects
  • Review, compile, and analyze information relating to Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure and Material Property information for pipelines and stations
  • Attend various meetings with the Transmission Integrity group and other internal stakeholders
  • Become familiar with NiSource procedures, industry standards, and regulatory requirements relating to the Transmission Integrity group

Qualifications
  • Current student of an ABET accredited, four-year Engineering or Technical program
  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study and plan to return to school to continue that study
  • Ability to work 40 hrs/wk during the summer
  • Proficiency with PC applications (prefer strong skills with ESRI GIS, databases, and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, etc.)
  • Proven communication skills
  • Possess a valid and current drivers license
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
