Transportation Engineer Position

Coke Consulting is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our team in our West Palm Beach, Florida office. This role offers tremendous potential for professional growth, working in a team environment, creative freedom and developing new skill sets towards their Professional Engineering license. This opportunity is for an individual who enjoys collaborating with others, listening and then delivering projects while learning during the process. The working environment is built on having the ability to apply the latest technology to evolve the process, innovative deliverables and assist our clients in solving their current challenges. The goal of the team is creating visuals for our clients to make decisions in the transportation industry.

Essential Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Access and assimilate transportation data such as Bluetooth travel time data, volume count data and traffic signal controller data
  • Ability to learn signal timing elements such as phasing, clearances and pedestrian intervals
  • Assist in further development of TSM&O Performance Measure Dashboard
  • Populate Performance Measure Dashboards on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis
  • Plotting of safety data along corridor maps or other formats
  • Analyzing pedestrian, bicycle or transit data in context of vehicular flow and safety
  • Perform mobility and operational cost of calculations using transportation data
  • Ability to learn or use micro-simulation models appropriate to specific project needs, including Synchro-Sim Traffic, VISSIM, CORSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic
  • Ability to use or learn the usage of Roundabout analysis software, SIDRA
  • Ability to use or learn Tableau or Power BI business intelligence software
  • Understand signal phasing, timing data for reports, intersection evaluations and recommendations
  • Conduct traffic analysis for speed studies including statistical evaluations, identifying key roadways with excessive speeds and recommendations
  • Communicate results in power point presentations and in technical memo writing


Basic Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, 0-4 years’ experience
EIT or the ability to obtain it

Preferred Qualification/Skills
Ability to collaborate and contribute to the company process development
Ability to learn and be involved in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn, educate and become fluent in emerging technologies and evaluate their strengths and weakness
Ability to identify challenges and solutions within the projects to further streamline the process.
The role will also include either having the knowledge, or the ability to learn, industry-standard engineering tools, practices and procedures, including, but not limited to the following:
  • FDOT standard practices and procedures (Design Manual, Design Standards, Basis of Estimates, Specifications, etc.)
  • Manual of Uniform Minimum Standards for Design, Construction and Maintenance for Streets and Highways (Florida Greenbook)
  • FHWA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
