Ride Control Engineers build the most advanced systems that create magical and immersive attractions around the world. These attractions are as exciting for grown adults as they are for kids. We work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment to develop unique control systems for Disney’s wide array of exciting rides – from an initial idea to creation to opening a new attraction.

What we’re looking for…

A Ride Control Hardware Engineering Intern who will work within the Ride Engineering Studio, which designs and develops rides that provide memorable moving experiences to Disney’s Guests worldwide. The Studio is comprised of Controls (Software and Hardware) and Mechanical departments that work together to accomplish that goal.


Responsibilities:

You will…
  • Be part of an engineering team involved in ride control system development, prototyping, simulation, or testing for a specific attraction or development project
  • Design, model, and/or analyze electrical, electronic, and data communication systems
  • Join a project or development team, partnered with a leader who will be your mentor


Basic Qualifications:

What you bring to the role…
  • Ability to understand and implement basic control system design
  • Experience with programmable controllers used in machine control and robotic applications
  • Ability to conduct electrical/electronic design and calculations
  • Ability to prepare technical documents and CAD drawings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in an engineering organization, or other organized group
  • Membership or leadership in IEEE, SWE, ACM, or equivalent professional organization
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Matlab
  • Control Systems Engineering and/or Control Theory experience


Required Education

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or must have graduated from an accredited college/university within the past 6 months, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field


Preferred Education

  • Control Systems Engineering and/or Control Theory coursework


Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Professional internship at the time of application
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work location
  • Must be able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2020 through June 2020. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
