The Programme

The global graduate engineering program is a rotational program over 2 years where you are rotated across different engineering teams within Interconnect to gather the skills and knowledge to have a strong career in the organisation. Rotations may vary in length up to a maximum length of 6 months.  Typical placements could include 2D/3D drafting and design, electrical & mechanical design engineering, radio frequency design, digital software/firmware design, technology simulation & system analysis, material development, industrial engineering, project management and business development. 

As well as the program placements, there will be the opportunity to work on stretch projects to further develop your understanding of our business as well as developing the soft skills you will need to succeed as young professionals. As part of a Smiths-wide global graduate network, you will get to know our graduates from the different divisions and functions located worldwide to share learning experiences and create a network. 

Throughout the two years, you will be supported by the business to ensure that you gain the skills you need to succeed in Smiths Interconnect and to prepare you for a full time role within our engineering organisation.

About You

  • A minimum 100 points, 2:1 or GPA 3.5 from an Engineering/Physics/Science Degree
  • Excellent science and maths academic background
  • Have graduated in the past two years.
  • Strong interest in engineering as a career with ambitions to continually learn
  • Committed and able to work in a changing environment
  • Self-starter and self-sufficient - will hit the ground running
  • Strong desire to work across a global business 
  • Innovative thinker and problem solving attributes
