Design Engineer
General Statement/Purpose of Job:
This position develops new and updates existing product lines for the company’s portfolio of innovative and energy efficient lighting solutions. The position applies a broad range of Mechanical Engineering proficiencies including CAD, thermal, and optical design. Design for fabrication, cost/benefit analysis, and problem solving are key to this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works under the direction of the VP of Engineering to achieve the goals of the department.
- Will use Solid Edge modeling software to produce prototype CAD models or related sheet metal componentry.
- Interfaces with Product Line Managers and/or Sales to understand fixture requirements.
- Plans and drives schedule of New Product Development through a Stage Gate process.
- Analyzes alternate component performance and value in the development of new products.
- Generate and maintain new product BOM in our ERP system.
- May use Fabriwin CAM software to produce CNC programs for the sheet metal department.
- Works from written, pictorial or verbal instruction.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree Engineering or Associates degree and relevant experience.
Travel:
- Minimal travel required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily conducted in an office working environment with some exposure to manufacturing facility.
