2020 Professional Development Program (PDP) – Southern California – New Product Development

This program focuses on providing you with the opportunity to grow your professional skills along with the Niagara business. Over the next 24 months, the program will give you the opportunity to experience several different assignments in a variety of departments that will ultimately lead you to a full-time role in one of the following target departments (final placement may not necessarily be limited to these departments as business needs arise):

•Research and Development (Materials, Technology, and Packaging)

The goal of the PDP is to transform recent college graduates into high-performing Analysts, Specialists, or Engineers in the business. Additionally, the PDP supports the individual’s growth through exposure to the business, skill development, and networking opportunities. Specifically, you will participate in monthly learning sessions that will cover topics like time management, professional communication, and personal brand!

Role Details:

Responsible for providing support to cross-functional groups throughout the Product Development process by building budgets and timelines for project execution. The PDP will work with organization within and outside of Niagara to determine appropriate costs for projects and collaborate heavily with Packaging Development and R&D teams to commercialize new products. (Overall, responsible for project management, including receiving request from customer, understand customer needs, work with departments at Niagara such as planning/procurement/R&D, analyze from financial and supply chain standpoint, and then leading production until product is released).

**Up to 25% business travel to plants in the United States

Rotation Plan

PDPs are selected to work with a home department and have the opportunity to rotate through multiple partnering HQ departments over 18-24 months. We believe it is important to experience the heart of our business and to have the opportunity to get a first-hand glimpse at what makes Niagara’s manufacturing plants the most advanced in the country, therefore, it is required to complete 1 rotation in a manufacturing plant. The department rotations should be 3-5 months each.

Program Curriculum

  • Mentor
  • Kick-off event (training and social event)
  • Six Sigma training
  • Volunteer/community service events
  • Learning sessions (professional soft-skills training)
  • Final presentations to team and leadership

Work Experience/KSA’s

  • Preferred: 2+ years of work experience (experience may include a combination of internships, work experience and education)

Competencies

  • Ability to communicate concisely/clearly; problem solving; fast-learner
  • Project Management, Budgeting, Advanced Excel, Product Development, Business

Education

  • A candidate should be a graduating senior or a recent alumni (within 12 months) from either a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a professional field of study related to Mechanical, Industrial or Packaging Engineering

Start Date

  • January – July 2020
